BEVERAGE FAIR BRAUBEVIALE 2020 WILL BE HELD DIGITALLY THIS YEAR

Visit us in the virtual world!

Everything will be a little different in 2020. After extensive discussions and critically observing the current situation and in close coordination with customers and partners, the organiser NürnbergMesse decided at the beginning of October not to hold the physical exhibition of the BrauBeviale Special Edition 2020 as planned. The Special Edition programme, which this year included an elaborate hygiene concept due to the coronavirus pandemic, is now taking place only in the digital world. The reasons for this are the current national and global developments of the pandemic, the rapidly increasing number of infections and the associated massive restrictions on business travel in companies.

When Handtmann Armaturenfabrik announced this year's "Special Edition", it had already intensively considered whether participation was economically viable due to the existing uncertainties and the complex hygiene concept and whether it would have any positive effect at all from a business perspective. After internal discussions, even before NürnbergMesse officially cancelled, the decision was made not to participate as an exhibitor this year.

Nevertheless, Handtmann Armaturenfabrik is very keen to remain in dialogue with its customers even in these difficult times. The sales and marketing team then created a comprehensive customer mailing campaign. The mailing included an invitation to the Handtmann exhibition stand 2020, which will be presented on the company website and introduce some interesting exhibits and services. This way, communication can also be established via a digital path.

Alternative: Exchange platform mybeviale.com

NürnbergMesse launched an alternative concept at the beginning of November: the online platform mybeviale.com, which offers all participants an opportunity to exchange ideas within the beverage industry throughout the year. The aim is to network the analogue and digital world, to promote exchange within the industry and to transfer the wealth of information from the beverage industry to the digital world. Companies that normally exhibit at BrauBeviale can register on the website and create their personal company profile. Handtmann Armaturenfabrik can also be found with its company portrait and products on mybeviale.com.

SET OF MEASURES EFFECTIVE IN CONTAINING THE VIRUS

Current level of infection moderate

The coronavirus pandemic has kept those responsible in Handtmann companies holding their breath for months. From the outset, extensive measures have been taken to prevent the further spread of the virus. Currently 27 employees at the Biberach site are infected (as of: 11 December).

"Fortunately, we currently have very few Level 1 contact persons", explains Jörg Hochhausen, Group Manager Human Resources. On average, there is currently less than one contact person for each infected person. "This is thanks to the comprehensive hygiene concept and the infection prevention measures taken in the individual companies as well as the courageous action of all those responsible in the event of infection, Jörg Hochhausen continues. A mask requirement on the entire company premises or the introduction of a contactless shift handover, for example via Skype, separating the use of social rooms and the like help in this respect.

"We're doing our best to contain the coronavirus at Handtmann".

A task force installed at the beginning of the pandemic quickly and individually initiates additional measures to protect other employees in the event of any detected case of infection. "The team is in regular contact with our company doctor for this purpose and works very closely with the responsible persons at the health department", explains Jörg Hochhausen. In case of suspicion, contact persons are also selectively and specifically tested for a possible infection. This was the case, for example, in two "escalation cases" in the first half of November, when quarantine was ordered at short notice for a large number of employees in two departments. "In one case, an infected employee had contact with nine other colleagues in his department, and in the other case an infected person had contact with five other people in his department". In the short term, this not only caused unrest and uncertainty among the staff, but also led to a standstill of work in both departments. "Such exceptional cases must be prevented at all costs in future".

"We are asking you: Stick to the rules"!

"Every individual is responsible for his or her own health", warns Jörg Hochhausen. "At the same time, it is also necessary to protect third parties from possible infection by acting considerately and in accordance with the rules - be it in private life or at work". Handtmann does not tolerate violations of applicable regulations in view of the alarming incidence of infection worldwide. "It is true that infections mainly occur in private environments", says Jörg Hochhausen. "Nevertheless, at Handtmann we also have a duty of care for our employees and the need to continue to provide for our customers. If the coronavirus situation were to force us to shut down entire parts of our operations by order of the health authorities, this would have a considerable negative impact on our business relations with our customers". Thanks to consistent follow-up, there are currently hardly any more violations, for example of the obligation to wear masks. "The existence of the virus and the need for mutual protection has now entered our minds".
