In addition to tours around the various Handtmann plants, seminars and training modules with the main focuses on etiquette, Microsoft Outlook, social media and occupational safety are also provided. A four-day team training event in Wangen in Allgäu is also on the agenda. All these measures should prepare the youngsters and young adults optimally for their assignments in the different departments. – A good start is important for Handtmann.

Currently, Handtmann is training approximately 120 trainees at the Biberach site. They are training for the following co-operative education professions or studying for the following co-operative education degrees: electronics technician for industrial engineering, IT specialist for system integration, industrial commercial assistant, industrial mechanic, mechatronics engineer, materials tester, Bachelor of Arts in the subjects of Industry, International Business and Business Informatics as well as the Bachelor of Engineering. EFFICIENT MOBILITY. TODAY. TOMORROW.

Handtmann showcases new developments at the IAA in Frankfurt

Handtmann Metallgusswerk - Team at IAA 2017.

New technologies and applications require a great deal of information and know-how. Our trade fair team impressed visitors with their expert knowledge during numerous informative discussions.

Handtmann has been a reliable and innovative partner for automotive manufacturers and suppliers for many years, particularly in connection with the drive train (engine and transmission). With three new and exciting concepts, Handtmann managed to impress more trade visitors and interested parties on its stand than ever before, on the eleven trade and public days of the 67th IAA Cars in September.

  • Handtmann battery case for high-voltage batteries

Development concept 1: Single-piece aluminium high-pressure die-cast frame with topology-optimised honeycomb structure and integrated functions. Development concept 2: Housing with crash-proof side elements and aluminium cast node at the front.

  • Thermal management system

The all-round wonder for every type of drive (combustion and electric engines) performs a wide variety of functions and facilitates a significant reduction in emissions and consumption. Depending on the drive and the performance requirements, customised versions in aluminium or plastic are possible.

  • Electric engine housing

The housing for electric engines is a pioneering solution providing increased stability and strength. The hybrid design comprises an aluminium high-pressure die-cast engine housing plus a stator casing welded into it and it boasts numerous advantages compared with conventional solutions. The highly effective cooling improves engine output.

On 24th October, a round table discussion will be held in Warthausen for opponents and supporters of the planned Rißtal industrial estate (IGI).

At this meeting, the Tübingen regional council aims to make the proceedings for obtaining permission to deviate from the planning objective more transparent and to give all those involved the opportunity to voice their concerns. The participants in the discussion will be the mayors of the towns and municipalities of Biberach, Warthausen, Schemmerhofen and Maselheim, the Biberach District Office, the Donau-Iller regional association, the NABU Biberach nature conservation group, the Risstal protection action group “Schutzgemeinschaft Rißtal”, the Lars Consult planning office and Handtmann.

Maintaining competitiveness and securing jobs

The Handtmann family enterprise notified the town of Biberach of the need for up to 15 hectares of additional area in the near future. The company cannot expand any more at the current site on Arthur-Handtmann-Strasse. Further construction measures are no longer possible or economically feasible at this location. Additional spaces are therefore indispensable. For economic and logistical reasons, a continuous area is required. Due to its bond with the region and to secure the approximately 2,500 jobs at this location, the Handtmann Group of Companies prefers an area near to Biberach, preferably with a rail link. If a suitable location for additional spaces cannot be found new orders will have to be produced at other corporate sites in Europe.

Economically necessary measures cannot be dispensed with

By participating in this round table discussion, the Handtmann Group of Companies is emphasising its willingness to face up to public discussion and thus to its social responsibilities, and answer the questions of the supporters and opponents of IGI Rißtal as far as possible. The company aims to have additional area at the Biberach location at its disposal, while complying with the general conditions. Handtmann is a family-run company which bears responsibility for the staff, the economic development of the region and the environment. However, to safeguard the continued existence of the company, Handtmann is not prepared or able to do without the economically necessary measures described.

TEAM HANDTMANN ALSO TAKES PART IN THE EINSTEIN MARATHON 2017

Endurance runners record good times

This year, the Handtmann Group of Companies was once again pleased with many registrations for the Einstein Marathon in Ulm. At the 13th staging of this Ulm running event on 17th September 2017, a total of 40 runners took part for Team Handtmann in a variety of disciplines.

Whether they covered five or ten kilometres or the half marathon distance, whether they took part on foot or on inline skates – all the endurance sportsmen and women from the Handtmann Group of Companies successfully crossed the finishing line. The conditions were ideal: pleasant temperatures, a lot of sunshine and a dry course.

The Handtmann station on Münsterplatz was, as always, well-frequented. Here, the runners and the numerous fans, colleagues, friends and family had the opportunity to warm up and chat while enjoying the drinks and snacks provided.
