Handtmann Systemtechnik presents innovative battery technology
At the Battery Show in Stuttgart from June 18 to 20, 2024, Handtmann Systemtechnik presented the near-series technology of a battery system with MLIT (multi-level inverter technology) for the first time, which is suitable for both the automotive and non-automotive sectors. At stand E20 in hall 9, customers and interested parties had the chance to take a close look at this sustainable and efficient solution for drive systems. The MLIT technology was created after months of design and development work and will soon go into series production.
In view of the current challenges in recycling battery cells, optimizing the efficiency and lifetime of battery systems is of crucial importance. The experts at Handtmann Systemtechnik, together with the developers at BAVERTIS, have now succeeded in extending the service life of batteries by up to 60 percent by using MLIT technology. In addition, the technology enables any type and form of voltage to be generated directly from the battery using software. Both the motor control and the AC/DC charging options are provided directly from the battery. "Our MLIT-based battery systems offer valuable synergy effects for our customers in the automotive and non-automotive sectors as well as for stationary energy storage systems," says Robert Fiesel, Head of Handtmann Systemtechnik division.
Together towards new paths to sustainable mobility
As a committed driver of transformation, Handtmann works with strong development partners - including for MLIT technology. As a leading developer with extensive experience in power electronics and software development for this innovative approach, BAVERTIS GmbH from Munich is an important partner. They develop intelligent, modular battery systems that significantly increase the battery life of electric vehicles through a software-controlled battery ecosystem and modular direct inverters. Artificial intelligence and precise battery data from power semiconductors enable a fully software-defined battery system. This not only opens up advantages for electric vehicles, but also new perspectives for the reusability of batteries.
"Handtmann's slogan 'Ideas with a future' also reflects our philosophy," says Niclas Lehnert, Managing Director of BAVERTIS GmbH. "We want to shape the sustainable future of batteries in the mobility of tomorrow. With Handtmann Systemtechnik, we have a strong partner at our side to drive forward our goals and the industrialization of our technology."
