HANDTMANN BUYS OELMAIER INDUSTRIEELEKTRONIK

The divisions of light metal casting and systems engineering are expanding their level of know-how in the field of power electronics in light of the shift towards electromobility

The Oelmaier company based in Ochsenhausen has recently joined the Handtmann Group of Companies. The previous owner Helmut Lehner and Thomas Handtmann, managing director of Albert Handtmann Holding GmbH & Co. KG, signed a corresponding purchase agreement on Wednesday, 19 December 2018.

The purchase contract means that Oelmaier Industrieelektronik GmbH & Co. KG became 100 percent owned by Handtmann. In addition, nothing will change for Oelmaier and its approximately 60 employees. "Oelmaier is a promising company. It will be continued in its present form by the existing management - independently and on its own responsibility. All jobs will be retained," emphasises Thomas Handtmann.

Strategic purchase decision

Handtmann had decided to purchase Oelmaier for strategic reasons. Handtmann's light metal casting and systems engineering divisions supply the automotive industry. Industrial electronics are becoming increasingly important for these customers because they are increasingly focusing on the field of electromobility. "We were already looking for a suitable partner when we became aware of Oelmaier. Oelmaier has comprehensive know-how in power electronics and has a good reputation in the industry," explains Thomas Handtmann. "With the purchase, we can expand our range of services to our customers. The greater the share of electromobility, the more important power electronics become for Handtmann."

First order in preparation

Planning is already underway for the start of the cooperation. Starting in spring 2019, Oelmaier will process a first order from the automotive industry for Handtmann. Specifically, it concerns the assembly of battery modules for electric vehicles. The order runs until 2022. Further comparable orders are to follow. In addition, Oelmaier will continue its production of control electronics and high-voltage devices.

Joy with Oelmaier

The employees and the management of Oelmaier Industrieelektronik were informed about the change of ownership at a works meeting in December. They have a positive view of the sale to Handtmann. "Handtmann is a respected company in the region and a guarantor of stability. As a family-owned company, the company thinks in the long-term and treats its employees responsibly. We are proud to be part of this successful group now," explains Wolfgang Oelmaier, Senior Engineer Electronics.

“HANDTMEN" ARE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THE BIG CHALLENGE CUP

Footballers of the Handtmann Group of Companies win the Weishaupt company tournament for the first time after numerous attempts

Handtmann - With their football skills, the Handtmann footballers made sure that the name Handtmann was finally engraved on the winner's board of the challenge cup.

With their football skills, they made sure that the name Handtmann was finally engraved on the winner's board of the challenge cup: (standing, from left) Timo Rothenbacher (Elteka), Nico Hummel (Metallgusswerk), Ömer Ayar (Service), Michael Stöferle (Service), (kneeling from left to right) Florian Münst (Maschinenfabrik), Radu Daniel Armencea (Metallgusswerk), Florian Werz (Metallgusswerk) and Markus Kühnbach (Metallgusswerk).

On 11 January, the Handtmann football team again took part in the Weishaupt company tournament in Schwendi. It was the 25th edition of this tournament. We had previously taken part for at least 20 times and tried in vain to win the big challenge cup. In the past few years we have consistently been semi-final or final participants, but have never been able to win out. Until this year's anniversary edition of the tournament...

With rather bad omens – we had great difficulty even mobilising enough players and had no real goalkeeper – the team around captain Michael Stöferle started the tournament: And they were sensational. We won all the games and in the end were the deserving tournament winners. The joy at winning the big trophy was just as great, and we now have to find a worthy place for it before we want to defend it next year in January. Accolades and congratulations go to the Handtmann football Team.
