Biberach: Lively district capital in the heart of Upper Swabia

Buses

The scenery around Biberach is green and undulating. It is the perfect place for walking, hiking, Nordic walking, jogging, cycling, mountain biking and inline skating.

Dollinger Realschule

Education in the Biberach region: Eight primary schools and nine secondary schools teach children and youngsters knowledge and personal skills. This provision is augmented by crèches, nurseries, a music school, a school for young artists, an adult education centre and an award-winning town library. Biberach also has a university of applied sciences that has gained top marks in Germany-wide rankings.

Film festival

The Biberach film festival is famous not only within the town. A theatre, cabarets, concerts and numerous museums in the region ensure a wide range of cultural events in addition to the cinema.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing trails are nearby and the Alpine ski resorts are just one hour's drive away: Biberach is an attractive starting point for fans of winter sports. In and around Biberach there are also numerous spas with extensive bathing and sauna facilities.

Train connection in Biberach

30 minutes to the ICE railway station in Ulm, 90 minutes to Stuttgart airport, 120 minutes to Munich: Thanks to its station and it close proximity to the motorway, Biberach has good long-distance transport connections. And for those who would rather travel south – it takes only 60 minutes to get to Lake Constance and the Mediterranean is only about 5.5 hours away by car.

Annaberg-Buchholz: Holiday region with a strong economy

In Annaberg-Buchholz, the Handtmann Leichtmetallgießerei is located in the Frohnau district, not far from the "Frohnauer Hammer" mill, which is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Ore Mountains.

Handtmann-Königswalde

A few kilometres away from Annaberg-Buchholz, there is another production site belonging to the Handtmann Metallgusswerk. Königswalde boasts an idyllic location in Pöhlatal but still has good transport connections and plenty of shops.

Annaberg city centre

The large district capital, Annaberg-Buchholz, is situated in the heart of the Ore Mountains, between Chemnitz and Oberwiesenthal, and has a charming low mountain location. With its approximately 20,000 residents, the town is the tourist and administrative centre of the Ore Mountains as well as one of the regions with the highest concentration of industry in Saxony.

Annaberg-Buchholz offers families a high quality of living. Seven nurseries, five primary schools and five secondary schools are spread throughout the town. Numerous leisure activities are available, from the indoor swimming pool, the zoo and various museums to the theatre.

At home in a holiday region: Annaberg-Buchholz is one of the most important tourist destinations in Saxony, especially in the run-up to Christmas. The surrounding area offers a wide variety of sporting activities throughout the year – from hiking, cycling and mountain biking to cross-country and downhill skiing.

Wilhelminian and art nouveau buildings are the defining features of the centres of Annaberg and Buchholz. Numerous shops, restaurants, festivals, cultural institutions and approximately 150 clubs ensure that the town (which was formed by merging two separate towns) is filled with life.

Our site at Zittau is situated at the Weinau industrial zone, near to the city. At this location second-hand machines from Handtmann are re-engineered.

Zittau Altstadt

Zittau offers its approx. 25.000 residents and the numerous guests a lovely histroical old town with relaxed cafés, restaurants, small shops, a cinema and a theatre.

Zittau

Zittau is situated in magnificent countryside at the foot of the Zittau mountains. The national park is so good for jogging, mountain biking and swimming that international sports competitions are staged here. But Zittau is also the ideal location for hobby hikers and cyclists. In winter, excellent tracks for ski tours, sledging, downhill skiing and cross-country skiing stretch for hundreds of kilometres.

Zittau - Heide- und Teichlandschaft

Görlitz, with its more than 4,000 cultural monuments and historic buildings, is just half an hour's drive away from Zittau. The European city not only boasts numerous cultural and leisure activities but also a wide variety of shops and a lively gastronomy scene.
